Bringing Nature Home

We are all aware of the fact that we have greatly weakened our native, terrestrial (land) food web. But almost none of us know how or if we can reverse this.

The exciting NEWS is that YES, WE CAN REVERSE THIS GRADUAL, INSIDIOUS, DEMISE that has been happening over the last 50 years. WE CAN BRING BACK OUR NATIVE BIRDS, BUTTERFLIES AND BEES. YOU CAN bring them back…RIGHT TO YOUR HOME. I am in the process of doing it right at my home at 138 E Commonwealth Drive, Portland, Maine. The process is a little long to be explaining here, but I will tell you that it is a whole lot of fun and the cost is very, very low. Here is where you might want to start. Grab a copy of Douglas Tallamy’s book, Bringing Nature Home. Browse through it and I promise you that you will then begin reading it in earnest. After you begin understanding this whole process, you will use the book as a reference. You can also reach me at I am a wildlife biologist and have so wanted this process to begin across America…the World! Yes, I do have a solid understanding of terrestrial systems, but it took Doug’s book to give me hope and belief that we can bring nature right back to our homes. His book put the pieces together for me and I hope for you too. Here is a pic of my copy of his book. I love it. And I love making it happen even more.
